Faryl Robin is one of my favorite lines. Why? Because every Faryl Robin shoe seems to have its own story waiting to be told. With unusual lines, unpredictable heels, and sweet shapes in everything from flats to boots, Faryl Robin has a winning formula for chic shoes. I love her stuff so much, that I sometimes wish I could have a mini Faryl Robin sitting on my shoulder as I trudge through miles of shoe aisles, on a mission for the perfect pair. Well, now I can! Summer is coming! If you’re like me, my feet are aching to kick off their puritanical coverings in favor of well-aerated sandals, espadrilles, and peep-toe pumps. (Ideally, these shoes would easily slide off for instant barefoot gratification whenever the whim to feel grass between my toes strikes.) Because summer shoe styles don’t have to provide a barrier against snow, rain and sleep, they offer more design options. Over the last three days, Shoeflyer has featured Gentle Souls shoes. Featuring such a comfort-oriented shoe maker has
brought to mind the importance of finding wearable shoes. Sure, I’ll climb onto a pair of fierce heels for a couple of hours at the show, but I’ll probably sink into the tub and treat my feet at the end of the night. Most days, my shoes are certainly chic, but they’re also comfortable. My demand for comfort arose from a couple of years as a shoe saleswoman in Gottschalk’s during high school.
