Let’s face it: these days, everyone’s looking for ways to save money while maintaining their most fabulous individual look. I’m no different. I dream of leading Carrie Bradshaw’s shoe-tastic lifestyle, but I’m really more like a fashion MacGyver– I’ll wow the crowd with whatever materials and footwear is available, even if I’ve reinvented a certain pair five times. One trick to getting more milage out of your footwear is to take good care of it. But no matter how many protective balms you buy, life happens and shoes eventually show signs of wear. Or maybe you’re just bored with a certain pair, and you want to update your look without emptying your wallet. Well, here are five fun ways to get your old shoes back in business. Enjoy… and once you’ve cleared out your shoe closet, surf on over to Shoefly to take full advantage of our 30% off sale– save an additional 30% off marked prices at check out!
Today, a company called Brilliant Widgets announced its new product — “Shoe Socks” — which they claim are “the world’s first form-fitting stretchable protective shoe covers.” Apparently, the purpose of this innovation is two-fold: while traveling, one) they prevent dirt and germs on your shoes from getting onto the rest of your luggage, and two) they also protect your shoes from all the hazards a suitcase or duffel has to offer (you know — real socks, underwear, and t-shirts).
Everyone has that pair of shoes they love to wear all the time. You know the ones — a tad weathered but ultra comfy and still stylin’. It’s that pair of shoes you wish would last forever, but sadly (unless you had enough foresight to buy six pairs), they’ll eventually wear out and end up getting the boot, so to speak. At the same time, don’t we all have that pair of shoes we’ve made a significant investment in? The ones we hardly ever wear but tread on like they’re made of glass when we do? With all our soles inevitably wearing thin, how do we maximize the life and investment of our shoes?
OK, so you’re rolling your eyes at the thought that a shoe retailer’s blogger would promote the idea of making your shoes last. But hear me out. I just have your best look in mind, and with the current economic situation, it’s best to be prepared, and make those stellar pieces last. You can stretch the life of your shoes by repairing them whenever possible.
Now that the Shoefly Winter Sale has brought that perfect new pair into your world, make sure they last through the recession by protecting them against wintry conditions. The latest way to protect your pumps? Shuellas.
Packing can be torture. If you’re like me, you put it off until the last minute, and then shove everything willy-nilly into the smallest suitcase possible to avoid extra baggage fees. Later, dragging your brick of a suitcase into a hotel room, you kick myself for not being more prepared. (more…)
Every year when the wet weather returns we’re forced to toss our suede
boots and flats back in the closet until dryer days. Instead of
stifling your style, protect your suede instead of keeping it sheltered
and enjoy the fashion freedom that you’re entitled to, rain or shine.
We found a nine step solution on eHow.com that’ll keep you draped in suede from
January to January, if you so chose.
