ALERT: Generic shoes may cause big problems

Well the day started out fine—no problems to report of.  Our brand new, beautiful shoes from Shoefly were fitting a bit snug around the toes, but then again having been blessed with wide feet this is a regular, life-long occurrence and is expected with new shoes for the first few wears.

Concept shoes: flipper slippers

Have you ever worried about slipping into a reservoir, getting caught in a tsunami or washing away in a  flash flood while wearing high heels? We didn’t think so. But since we mentioned it (and in the process possibly stirred up some fear), we figured we should recommend a solution for our natural disaster-prone readers.

Quite simply the greatest shoe storage solution of all time.

Has anybody out there ever had to move?  Once you got to your new place (excuse us, palace), did it seem as though your shoe storage had shrunken exponentially?  Lord knows it couldn’t have been because you have too many shoes …

Sprice Girls reunite!

After the dismal news of Liz Claiborne’s death, we thought we would brighten everyones day with some positive news. For those of you who haven’t already heard, the 1990s British sensation, The Spice Girls, have announced that a Spice Girls reunion tour is in the works. Show dates and venues have yet to be disclosed but it’s said that each of the Spice Girls (Posh, Sporty, Scary, Baby and Ginger) will earn roughly €10 Million during the 11-show world tour. Not too bad for the ladies, let’s hope they don’t reunite in the foot-tall platforms shoes of the past. GIRL POWER!

Ugly shoes vs. ugly bags

There’s not a woman in the world who expects it to happen to her, but once in a great while it happens to each of us. We are talking about being caught wearing something truly hideous, and—worst of all—thinking it looks good. We think you’ll agree that the scenario above happens mostly with accessories, particularly shoes and handbags. Our friends at Shoewawa recently addressed this very issue when they asked their readers: What’s worse? An ugly pair of shoes or an even uglier handbag?

Manolo’s “Build the Outfit” contest

Last week we blogged about Shoefly and Shoeflyer’s sponsorship of Manolo’s "Build the Outfit" contest. The contest concluded this morning with team Shoeflyer picking the winning outfit. We must admit, it wasn’t easy, but after hours of analyzing proposed outfits we came to a unanimous decision. In the end  we chose an outfit submitted by a lady going by the name Chels.

Weekend in review-shoes and news

The air is warm and the sun is shining. It’s a beautiful day here in Portland, however we’ve been burned before, and are keeping our fingers crossed that this "nice spell" holds for awhile. Last weekend’s shoe and news review was all about summer shoe shopping, shoes saving lives and pimping your pumps. This weekend’s review is just as unorthodox. Here’s what’s news:

Leanimal drives me wild!

Shamelessly piggybacking off Jamie’s "Local Lovelies" entry a few weeks ago, we would like to comment on another fantastic PDX find.  Her name is Leanne Marshall, but she’s better known around these parts for her AMAZING clothing line, Leanimal.

Shoefly/Shoeflyer and Manolo

Each week Manolo, of, picks one shoe and asks his readers to "Build the Outfit." This week, Manolo came to Shoeflyer and Shoefly to sponsor the contest by donating the shoe of our choice and agreeing to pick the winner at the end of the week. That said, it’s our pleasure to sponsor Manolo’s "Build the Outfit" contest and we ask you, the Shoeflyer readers, to participate. Here’s what you do:
