Designer Spotlight: Camper
I was scrolling through Shoefly’s New Arrivals today and found myself continually impressed with styles by Camper. Inherent in the design of their shoes is a voice that speaks with innovation and pride yet also with a modest simplicity, that is, without frills and gimmicks. As such, Camper’s shoes don’t necessitate flare and flash to attract attention — their elegant designs do the job quite well, infusing confidence within their shoes. Still, there was something special about these shoes that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. It didn’t take long for me to figure out what.
A quick trip over to www.camper.com (a pleasantly unique web site, I must say) led me to the company’s origins which date back to 1877. After three generations of devoted shoe-making, Camper was officially established in 1975. Its mission: “to reflect a new lifestyle, a new way of thinking based on freedom but also encompassing comfort and creativity.” It is this tradition-steeped history of craftsmanship that is so clearly reflected in their shoes.
Below, you’ll find some of my favorite shoes from Camper (click on the images to learn more).
Laura 20906 (pictured top, right) is an elegant wedge capable of complimenting just about any leg.
These Peu Senda shoes are cool and casual, which really means confident and comfortable.
These ballet-style flats are called Right – as in you can never go wrong with them.
Twins Bombay are hip and classy — perfect for business or pleasure.
Finally, the Twins Meisi are a pair of shoes more versatile than most — it will be hard to find something they won’t go with.
