The Don’ts and Dos of Capris and Shoes
As summer brings warmer weather, it’s undeniable that shorts and capris become more visible. Thankfully, Desiree Stimpert gives some much needed advice about what shoes are appropriate with capri pants and what shoes are a flat-out “no-no.” According to Stimpert,
Do Wear:
- Ballerina flats.
- Flat, skimpy thong sandals.
- Fitted canvas sneakers.
Wear with Caution:
- Wedges.
- Pumps.
Don’t Wear:
- Bulky sneakers or cross-trainers.
- Sandals with heavy straps.
- Clogs.
Personally, I don’t know how I feel about wearing wedges or pumps with capris. While Stimpert says it’s potentially doable, I’d tend to just stay away from wearing them with capris altogether. My favorite capri and shoe combo is the one pictured above, Katie by Pour La Victoire, with an off-white pair of capri pants. Katie’s sister pair, the classy black and white checkered pattern, also looks amazing in tandem with white (or black) capris.
If you love capris, make sure to find the perfect pair of soles to accent them. Take Stimpert’s advice above, staying away from big bulky shoes and embracing simple and light, form-fitting shoes, and you’ll not only look great, but feel great as well.
