Agro-Shoes: Sandals with an Attitude

It seems nearly every paper in America chose to run a recent AP story on the new aggressive style of shoe. I present article Exhibit A, from The News Tribune out of Tacoma.  This story is in online editions from Taiwan to Canada.  I congratulate AP writer Samantha Critchell for her global reach.    Ms. Critchell writes, “The ‘it’ bag has been replaced by the ‘it’ shoe, says Nicole Fischelis, the group vice president of ready-to-wear fashion for Macy’s. ‘The aggressive shoe is not a new phenomenon. It’s been on the runway for a few seasons, but it’s more apparent because of the rocker-chick kind of mood that’s coming back into fashion.’” Just what does an Aggressive Shoe look like, you ask?

This season’s Aggressive Shoe could come in the form of a studded gladiator sandal.  Other than that, it’s difficult to describe an Agro-Shoe.  Still, you’ll know one when you see one–Aggressive Shoes are funky and have plenty of attitude.  Leather, cut-outs, Indian beading, and “punk-rock hardware” can be found on some Aggressive Shoes.

If you don’t happen to be the lead singer in a rock band, have no fear.  You too can enjoy this style– just tone it down for the office by selecting cognac or other earthy colors.  Black and silver Aggressive Shoes tend to be more extreme.

To get your eyes accustomed to what I can only assume they’ll see plenty of in the next few months, the next few Shoeflyer posts will feature a few examples of Aggressive Shoes, direct from the Shoefly collection.  Today’s Aggressive Shoe is not for the faint of heart.  Shown at top, Rave by Naughty Monkey has it all: smooth and patent leather with flashes of flesh peeping through, studs, and height.
