Must-Have First Lady Fashion: Go Green With Michelle Obama
Ms. Obama’s lemongrass daytime inauguration outfit featured a relatively unknown Cuban-American designer, Isabel Toledo. In discussing her golden color choice on the Today Show, Ms. Toledo said, “I wanted a color that felt fresh…that had optimism.” Some commentators predict that Michelle’s fashion influence will make lemongrass the new black. Whether her unparalleled visibility can offset this winter’s trend toward steely color schemes remains to be seen.
The First Lady paired her regal golden outfit with forest green leather gloves and stunning 2.5 inch Jimmy Choo Glacier pumps with a kitten heel. To feel like the First Lady of your own Domain, try on a pair of grounding green pumps. Here are a couple of green beauties from the Winter Shoefly Sale:
First, Dianas by Miss Sixty. These are the dance club version of Mrs. O’s inaugural shoes. Those golden orbs, harkening back to the 1970s, would be a smash in a club like the Doug Fir in Portland. Regularly $165, they’re on sale for $115.
Or, for a little more gloss, check out Inner Space by Reaction by Kenneth Cole. The subtle teal tone would perk up any work day. Regularly $80, they’re just $48 right now.
