Twelve Days of Shoe Shopping #2: Turtle Doves/Entworths

On the second day of Christmas
My true love gave to me
Two turtle doves
But if you want to be up-to-date this holiday season, you’ll trade a gift of birds for a gift of adorable flats, like Entworths by Faryl Robin.

After all, we’d better preserve all of the turtle doves we can. According to Wikipedia, the turtle dove population in Europe has fallen by 62% in recent years, due to declining food sources. Here’s hoping this species sticks around– if for no other reason, it could teach us a thing or two about classy color schemes. The turtle dove’s coloration is lovely, especially during flight when the tail appears as a dark center with white frosting, like a dark chevron winking at bird-watchers.

Clean black and white designs like the turtle dove’s are classic and flexible. The Entworth, shown above, could be seen as a frisky interpretation of the turtle dove’s feather color palette. Entworths would make a great gift for your niece who’s just stepping into her own sense of style. She’ll treasure this easy-to-pair pair for years to come, as she cycles through trends and finds her own true expression.
