Splashy Shoes for Thrifty Times

Purple, mauve, burgundy and sapphire heels are on the rise, both literally and economically. In a shaky economy, women are drawn to higher, brighter shoes to complement timeless outfits, like the little black dress. When declining stocks and rising unemployment put a whole new wardrobe out of reach, many fashionistas are selecting jewel-toned shoes to enliven classic ensembles.

Jewel tones have sparkled on catwalks around the world, and even the stars are fascinated by these rick colors. Elle UK reports that stars like Natalie Portman and Reece Witherspoon have recently been spotted in purples. I adore British actress Jaime Winstone’s purple shoes, shown at left.

Compliments of the Chef
by Seychelles combines the craze for jewel tones with the resurgence of 1950s vintage styles. Shown above, this eye-popping aqua pump will make you the brightest star in the holiday sky.
