In Jamie’s Shoes: Here comes the sun (and dresses)!
According to local reports, this Thursday, May 15, will be the commencement of a widely celebrated and very important turn of events. It will be this Thursday when the gray clouds will part to reveal a shining light known as “the sun.” Yes, tomorrow in Portland, Ore., will be the first day of the long-awaited, notable and illustrious… dress season! We are hitting above 80 on Thursday with clear skies, bare legs and T-strap sandals! And I have just the dress to honor such a celebration.
Last week, after catching a glimpse of the glory that will decorate the Alberta Art Hop, I caught wind that one of my favorite local boutiques, Foundation Garments, was going to have a bit of a sale to celebrate the art of sexiness, sassiness and artistic exploration through fabric, i.e. clothes (I just tried to get sophisticated with it). Though, being the eager little lady that I am, I couldn’t very well wait for such a sale and miss the dawn of dress season without a new dress. So off to the store I went and walked away with some beauties. (Mom, don’t worry! I limited myself to two dresses only—I swear!)
One of the beauties was actually a sexy little cutie: this Coney Dress from Body Bag by Jude Clothing has girly puffy sleeves and a bubble skirt with a zipper in the front that can be zipped up close to the neck for those work-related outings, or be a bit more alluring by not bringing the zipper quite as high up, creating a plunging neckline for a sexy revelation. Coupled with the amorous skirt line (which hits even me above the knees) and you are flirting with desire. Pair it with these cognac-colored Frye’s, add some of your own jewelry to accent and you are ready for dress season and all its loveliness. Though I would leave the necklaces out of the equation; the neckline on this dress is adornment enough.
If you have time to come out to Alberta Street in the near future, you MUST pay a visit to Foundation Garments. If not, just go online and start salivating. Ladies, its time to get your dress on!

In Jamie’s Shoes: Gearing up for the Alberta Art Hop!
Hello my Shoeflyer friends! The annual Alberta Art Hop, in the notorious and oh-so-chic
Alberta Arts District of Northeast Portland, is just 10 days away on May 17! Along with the arts, the past seven years has seen Alberta grow to be a fashion plate for the fabulously funky independent style known to grace our city streets. I have already written about Alberta-located Garnish in the past and am sure this will be the perfect opportunity for me to test-ride some more local lovely designs. There are also bound to be sales galore at this fun event, so go and enjoy!
