Weekend in Review: Shoes and News

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, shoe lovers. Before you indulge in large quantities of corned beef, green beer and potato dishes, take a look at the most recent news in shoes and shoe fashion from around the globe.

"My thing is shoes"—Pro basketball player and Hawks guard Josh Childress is one serious shoe collector. With over 500 meticulously cared for pairs of kicks, Childress is one of the NBA’s biggest shoe fans.

Shoes as art—New York City will soon open an exhibit featuring the works of famous shoe designer Christian Louboutin. From his signature red-soled skyscraper heels to his be-ribboned pumps, Louboutin has become one of today’s most influential shoe designers. Read the article to find out about the most expensive pair of heels he’s designed to date.

Trashy shoes, literally!—Nike has limitedly launched a line of "garbage shoes." Made from left-over factory scraps and creatively stitched to include even the tiniest bit of leather, these shoes are crazy and look pretty good too. But at a $100 a pair we think the price is a little steep for something that was going to be tossed in the garbage anyway.
