Weekend in Review–Shoes and News

Today is one for the galoshes here in Portland, as "cats and dogs" can’t even articulate the amount of rain we’re receiving. All complaining aside, we’re okay with it, just more the reason to stay indoors, cuddled up near an artificial fire, with our feet wrapped in sheep skin. Now, all day-dreaming aside, here’s what’s news:

Everyone is a shoe designer—That’s not 100 percent true, but if you’re rich, famous and good looking, you sure as heck have a good chance of becoming one. Diane von Furstenberg and Natalie Portman are the first to join the ranks of celebrity designers, both with their unique shoe lines.

ALERT: Faux designer clothing scam—The BBC reported over the weekend that a fashion website,, is running some shady business. Beware!

Writers’ strike reciprocates on fashion —With the awards season kicking off, and no viewers able to see what fabulous gowns would have been worn at awards shows, the fashion industry is taking its lumps as well in the ongoing writers strike.

Still not enough, try Manolo’s "week in review"—One of our favorite shoe bloggers of all time, Manolo, puts his week of shoe, fashion and celebrity musing in review. It’s sure to please, sometimes insult and always be random.
