“Great dress!” The waitress called out to me as I made my way through the maze of dining tables. “Oh thanks!” I called back as I turned to talk to the petite woman with blonde hair and a water pitcher. I had to promote while the opportunity presented itself; “I got this from a local designer, Emily Katz—have you heard of her? No? Oh, she is great! She concentrates on green-design and…”
Yes my fly-friends, it has been a while since we talked about one of our favorite lovely local designers, Ms. Katz, and well overdue I might add! Her ‘Winter Forest Dress’ has helped me make it through the colder than normal winter weather this year with effortless panache. On days I quiver with the thought of wearing a dress in the middle of winter, I know this great organic cotton-fleece dress will keep me warm, fighting off the tyrants of formless bulky sweaters and runny noses.
Her design is quite simple, illustrating the hour glass shape women are known for with the fitted torso
and an A-line cut on the bottom half that stops right above the knees. Emily definitely knows how to bring out the sex appeal with her classic lines. The over-sized collar helps keep my neck warm while finishing the more-simple dress with a unique twist. I actually zip my winter wool coat under the collar when braving the outdoors making the collar look like a warm scarf while giving me that oh-so-cute winter bundling look.
I love this three-season dress—I wear it with heels in the spring, throw on a pair of tights to ward off the cooling winds of fall, and break out the boots and jeans during the winter. Go ahead and get one for yourself! Soon you will be hearing subtle accolades as you waltz through your days with a bit of Katz-style in your step.
