“Great dress!”

“Great dress!”  The waitress called out to me as I made my way through the maze of dining tables. “Oh thanks!” I called back as I turned to talk to the petite woman with blonde hair and a water pitcher.  I had to promote while the opportunity presented itself; “I got this from a local designer, Emily Katz—have you heard of her? No? Oh, she is great!  She concentrates on green-design and…”

Yes my fly-friends, it has been a while since we talked about one of our favorite lovely local designers, Ms. Katz, and well overdue I might add!  Her ‘Winter Forest Dress’ has helped me make it through the colder than normal winter weather this year with effortless panache.  On days I quiver with the thought of wearing a dress in the middle of winter, I know this great organic cotton-fleece dress will keep me warm, fighting off the tyrants of formless bulky sweaters and runny noses.

Her design is quite simple, illustrating the hour glass shape women are known for with the fitted torso

and an A-line cut on the bottom half that stops right above the knees.  Emily definitely knows how to bring out the sex appeal with her classic lines.  The over-sized collar helps keep my neck warm while finishing the more-simple dress with a unique twist.  I actually zip my winter wool coat under the collar when braving the outdoors making the collar look like a warm scarf while giving me that oh-so-cute winter bundling look.

Emily_katz_007_3I love this three-season dress—I wear it with heels in the spring, throw on a pair of tights to ward off the cooling winds of fall, and break out the boots and jeans during the winter.  Go ahead and get one for yourself!  Soon you will be hearing subtle accolades as you waltz through your days with a bit of Katz-style in your step.

Not so much a comment on the dress, though goodness knows in Wisconsin weather it would do wonders to keep a gal warm, but a simple hello to the blog writer – a long ago friend. Yes, a throw-back to those good ol’ La Crosse days when cute shoes and trendy fashion were at the low rung of our priority ladder. My oh my how far we’ve come. I’ve been enjoying your words here, and browsing the shoes is great…now at age 32, a great shoe is akin to the excitement I once felt over a party at the Double Basement.

The dress, by the way, is lovely.
