Weekend in review-shoes and news

As always, there’s no shortage of shoe, fashion and celebrity news to report on. That said, let’s cut right to the chase:

  • New York Fashion Week review—As many of you already now, the New York edition of Fashion Week kicked off early last week. Designers from all around the globe gathered to share their "unique style" for Spring 2008. Lucky for those of us no able to attend, there were a number of reporters on hand to document the festivities.
  • How many shoes?—That’s the question researchers asked more than 1,000 women to find out, on average, how many pairs of shoes women have in their closet. The verdict: the average woman has roughly 19 pairs of shoes in her arsenal. On a side note, 15 percent of the sample confessed to having more than 30 pairs of shoes. We think it’s safe to say all of us here at The Shoeflyer are part of that 15 percent.
  • How to protect your shoes—The average woman doesn’t think much about shoe security or measures to protect their footwear from thieves. Should we? Probably not, but nonetheless a London shoe store, Harrods, isn’t taking and chances. They’ve recently hired an Egyptian King Cobra snake to protect a $120,000 pair of ruby shoes.
