From lightening to rain to hurricane winds, it seems as though weather around the country is less than perfect. And by less than perfect, we mean that all of here in Portland are beginning to think fall has come early. Our final hope is for sunny September, but we can only keep our fingers crossed. That being said, luckily for you and us, the dismal weather hasn’t had much of an impact on the weekend’s shoe and fashion news.
- Kicks for Guns—What would you do for a new pair of Reebok sneakers? Better yet, what would you do if you found a 4-foot surface-to-air missile launcher? Those are questions an Orlando man had to answer over the weekend after finding the aforementioned in his shed. In the end, the man brought the weapon of mass destruction to his local weapons buy-back event (Kicks for Guns) and exchanged it for a new pair of sneakers.
- Saks’ new shoe floor big enough for its own zip code—That’s what people are saying about the 10,000 square foot eighth floor of Saks New York dedicated to designer shoes. Saks unveiled the new shoe floor over the weekend, which houses more than 100,000 pairs of designer shoes from $210 and up. As for the stores new zip code, 10022-SHOE, the USPS confirmed that it is meant for promotional purposes only and isn’t a legitimate mailing code.
- Back-to-school fashion—Whether you’re heading back to college or you have a child just starting kindergarten, back-to-school shopping is upon us. For most of us, September introduces a fresh start for fashion and invites you to rethink your wardrobe. That said, no matter what other people say, sweat pants are not making a comeback. After all, they would have had to be in style at some point in order to make a comeback.
