The air is warm and the sun is shining. It’s a beautiful day here in Portland, however we’ve been burned before, and are keeping our fingers crossed that this "nice spell" holds for awhile. Last weekend’s shoe and news review was all about summer shoe shopping, shoes saving lives and pimping your pumps. This weekend’s review is just as unorthodox. Here’s what’s news:
- Designer shoes stolen in smash & grab—A designer shoe boutique in Knightsbridge, England was robbed over the weekend when two men on a motor scooter smashed the store front with a sledge hammer and got away with a few satchels of shoes. The shoe were valued at more than £100,000 (or in American currency, almost $200,000!). The lesson learned here is to not underestimate the power of two men doubled up on a motor scooter.
- Diaz offends an entire country—Actress Cameron Diaz apologized to the people of Peru after receiving word that the slogan embroidered on her handbag was offensive to Peruvian people. Diaz picked up the handbag during her travels in China and sported it during a leisure hike along Peru’s most popular tourist attraction, Machu Picchu.
- Victoria Beckham fixes stiletto damaged feet—It appears as though high heels have gotten the best of former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham. A friend close to Beckham says years of wearing pointed-toe stiletto’s have caused Beckham’s big toes to become deformed and she’s considering surgery to correct them.
And last, but not least:
- White heels are HOT—And no, it’s not because they have been sitting in the sun for too long. Rather, it’s because some of the world’s hottest celebrities and models are wearing them. Though they stick out like a sore thumb, over-sized white high heels are growing on us.
